Lester named to all-conference volleyball team

INDIANOLA, Iowa — After enjoying a breakout season, Simpson sophomore middle hitter Hannah Lester earned a spot on the 2017 All-Iowa Conference Volleyball Team, as voted on by the league's nine head coaches.

Lester led the team in hitting efficiency with a .258 hitting percentage. She finished second on the team with 233 kills in just 561 total attacks and led the way with 93 total blocks. Lester hit better than .300 in 12 of 26 matches during the season and tallied double figure kills 13 times.

Her .258 hitting percentage is the highest by a Simpson player since 2011 and ranks fifth since the current, 25-point format was adopted in 2008.

Lester performed her best against conference opponents, hitting .312 with 2.79 kills per set, up from 1.97 kills per set in non-conference matches. In conference play she ranked fourth in the league in efficiency and seventh in total kills.

She showed great improvement from her freshman season, increasing her production by 0.35 kills per set, improving her efficiency by 124 points and tallying 45 more total blocks.
