Swimmers and divers compete at Grinnell Invitational

GRINNELL, Iowa – Dylan Gray turned in three, top-25 performances to lead the Simpson swimming and diving teams at the Grinnell Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

The men finished seventh of seven teams and the women 11th of 11 in a loaded field.

Simpson returns home on Jan. 24 and 25, facing Iowa Lakes CC on Friday and Coe on Saturday.

Men's Highlights

• Dylan Gray  placed 16th in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.42), 20th in the 200 breaststroke (2:32.04) and 23rd in the 50 freestyle (23.96) for Simpson's top individual finishes
• Michael Reuter placed 17th in the 200 butterfly (2:17.27)
• The 200 freestyle relay team of Gray, Scott Wailes, Nathan Schneider and Mitchell Madson placed 14th (1:36.86)
• The 400 freestyle relay team of Gray, Schneider, Wailes and Madson placed 15th (3:35.12)

Women's Highlights

• The 800 freestyle relay team of Malia Meyer, Katherine Rubins, Marissa Stepleton and Christina Amburgy placed 19th (9:29.44)
• The 200 freestyle relay team of Meyer, Haley Blum, Erica Carlson and Amburgy placed 23rd (1:51.99)
• The 200 medley relay team of Carlson, Blum, Amburgy and Meyer placed 23rd (2:05.07)
