DECORAH, Iowa – Heather Adolph scored the game-winner, Megan Petersen had a steady effort between the posts and the Simpson women's soccer team picked up a much-needed, 2-1 win over Luther on Saturday.
Adolph's winner came at the 75:11 mark, breaking a 1-1 tie and helping the Storm (8-6, 2-3 Iowa Conference) snap a four-game losing streak.
Petersen saw 11 shots come her way, stopping 10 for her third, 10-save game of the season.
Freshman Laura Alt scored her first career goal in the 39th minute to give Simpson a 1-0 lead. The Norse (5-8-1, 1-4) tied the game in the 63rd minute on a goal from Maggie Herrity.
Simpson won despite being out-shot 22-10, including 13-6 in the second half.
The result gives Simpson six points in the conference standings, good for sole possession of fifth place, ahead of Coe and Luther (3 points each).
Simpson gets a break in the conference schedule as it hosts AIB College of Business on Tuesday, Oct. 16. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
