Storm wrestlers fall to Central in season finale
PELLA, Iowa - The Simpson wrestling team collected a pair of pins but No. 22 Central took the dual, winning 33-12 in the season finale Friday night.
Jason Kiehne pinned Tristan Clark at 141 and Jason Clark won by fall over Mike O'Connor at 157 for the Storm (2-11, 0-7 Iowa Conference).
Central got four bonus-point victories, including two pins. AJ Pestano and Aaron Anderson won by fall at 125 and 133, respectively, for the Dutch (9-3, 4-3).
Brett Roberts lost to A.J. McBroom 7-1 at 184 and Colby Vlieger lost a 3-1 heartbreaker to Jay Pike at 285. Vlieger and Pike were tied 1-1 before Pike scored a takedown in the final five seconds.
Up next: Simpson goes to the NCAA Central Region Championships on Saturday, Feb. 27 in Dubuque, Iowa.
