Summer Wrestling League wraps up its second year

INDIANOLA - More than 130 wrestlers from across the state of Iowa visited Simpson's campus in June for the 2011 Simpson Summer Wrestling League.

Head coach Clint Manny and the Simpson wrestling program hosted the league every Wednesday from June 1-22, welcoming wrestlers ranging from middle school to seniors in high school. 

Those who attended had the opportunity to compete against some of the best wrestlers in the state.

"There was lots of quality wrestling taking place in June," Manny said. "We had a number of multi-time state champions this year, but it was a great opportunity for kids of all talent levels to get on the mat and compete."

In its second year, the league grew 30 percent from 2010. Manny and his staff along with Simpson wrestlers facilitate the league, which consists of technique work along with matches against other wrestlers.
