Elam, Streicher shine at home event
INDIANOLA, Iowa - Taylor Elam and Madeline Streicher each broke 80 and finished in the top five at the Simpson College women's golf team's home event, the Simpson Fall Invite.
The Storm competed in two teams, Simpson Red and Simpson Gold, with Elam and Streicher leading each team. Simpson Gold, led by Elam, took fourth place out of 12 teams, while Streicher led Simpson Red, who finished sixth.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Elam tied for third overall with a career-best 78, the first time she has broken 80 in her collegiate career.
- It was Elam's highest individual finish in her career and second time in the top five.
- Streicher shot a 79 to tie for fifth, her 10th career top-five finish and second in as many weeks.
- Tessa Rounds shot her best round as a Storm player, with an 87.
- Overall, half of the Storm golfers across both teams broke the 90-stroke barrier.
- Simpson Gold took fourth with a team score of 344, while Simpson Red was sixth with a score of 355.
