Martin, Mabeus pace Storm at Spring Invitational
INDIANOLA, Iowa – Lydia Martin carded a 90 to edge out teammate Courtney Mabeus by just two strokes for a first place finish at the Simpson Spring Invitational on Wednesday.
Martin made par on three holes before carding a birdie on the par-4 15th. Mabeus made par three times on the front nine for a 47, and three more times on the back nine to finish with a 45.
Golfers from Simpson, William Penn, Grand View, and Southwestern CC competed at the par-71, 5,816- yard layout at Indianola Country Club, scoring individually with no team scores.
Kelsey Van Veen shot a 95 for fifth, while Kelsa Berkland ended the round with a 104. Cassady Carmichael carded a 106, Samantha Sweet shot a 117, and Lexi Wagner had a 120 to round out Simpson's finishers.
