Turner clips own record on day three for Storm

ELSAH, Ill. -- Freshman Danny Turner broke his own school record and several season-bests were recorded on Friday for the Simpson swimming and diving teams on the third day of the Liberal Arts Championships.

The Storm women are still in 10th and the men are eighth in the standings with one day left of competition.

Turner captured third place in the 100-yard breaststroke during the prelims with a blistering time of 59.20 to beat his previous record of 59.43. Turner ended fifth in the finals with a mark of 59.73.

Alyssa Harris nabbed the second-best finish today with a sixth-place performance in the 400-yard individual medley. Harris, along with Madison DePover, Katie Cardoza and Caroline Oberg ended ninth in the 200 individual medley relay. The quartet recorded a 2:01.85 for a season best.

DePover recorded a season-best time of 1:14.96 in the prelims of the 100 breaststroke and finished 12th with a result of 1:15.29 in the consolation finals. Oberg followed her teammate with a 13th-place performance after securing a season-best 1:16.39 in the prelims.

Angela Eppens and Cardoza all tallied their best outings in the 100-yard butterfly, while Austin Andes (200 freestyle) and Blake Kakacek (100 backstroke) did the same for the men.
