Turner selected as A-R-C Performer of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Simpson freshman Danny Turner was selected as the American Rivers Conference Men's Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week for his performance this past weekend in Leavenworth, Kan., the league announced on Monday.

Turner guided the Storm against Tabor College and the University of Saint Mary on Saturday. The freshman won three races for Simpson en route to becoming the first Storm male swimmer and diver to earn the honor since Noah Nelson received it on Oct. 29, 2018.

Simpson returns back to the pool on Friday, Nov. 22 for a home meet against Loras at the Indianola YMCA. Competition is slated to begin at 6 p.m.

Danny Turner | Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week
• Freshman from Panora, Iowa
• Finished first in all three races he competed in for Simpson
• Won the 200-yard individual medley, 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke races
• Trimmed six seconds off his previous season-best time in the 100-yard freestyle with a 51.94-second mark
• Leads the team in all four events he has competed in this season
