Hartman paces men’s golf at Mount Mercy

MARION, Iowa – Nick Hartman fired an even-par 72 in the final round of the Mount Mercy Fall Classic, leading the Simpson men's golf team to a 13th-place finish last weekend, Sept. 10-11.

Simpson cut 21 strokes from round one to round two, shooting 617 for the weekend after closing with a 306 Sunday. Indian Hills CC won the tournament with a 573.

Hartman set a new career low with his final round performance, catapulting him to a tie for 20th in the individual standings. He shot a 78 in the opening round, finishing the weekend at 6-over 150. Mount Mercy's Sergio Garcia won the tournament at 4-under par.

Korbin Sesker was one of three Simpson golfers to shoot 83 in the opening round, but he followed that up with a 76 on Sunday to tie for 62nd with a 159. Andrew Lallier and Cameron Stump also opened with 80s. Lallier shot 78 to tie for 72nd (161) and Stump shot 80 to tie for 75th (163). 

Blake Bender and Ben Butler tied for 78th (165). Bender went 84-81 and Butler shot 85-80.
