Men's basketball earns NABC academic awards

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the seventh year in a row, the Simpson College men's basketball team received the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award for its collective achievements in the classroom.

The Storm also had seven individuals named to the NABC Honors Court for finishing the 2022-23 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. Earning the distinction for Simpson was Andrew Gibb, Ben Wolgemuth, Buck Eagleburger, Chris Honz, Easton Darling, Marcus McCray, and Trent Williamson.

The NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards recognize men's basketball programs that completed the academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The NABC Honors Court, meanwhile, includes junior, senior and graduate student men's basketball players who finished the year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher. Over 1,800 players earned spots on the NABC Honors Court and over 300 programs received NABC Team Academic Excellence Awards for the 2022-23 academic year.
