Barragan named to D3hoops.com Team of the Week
INDIANOLA, Iowa - After earning Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Athlete of the Week honors Monday, Simpson men's basketball player Zack Barragan added to his accomplishments by landing on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week, as annonced Tuesday.
Barragan, a senior shooting guard from Ankeny, Iowa, scored 27 points in the Storm's 68-64 win at Buena Vista on Jan. 11. He went 10 of 15 from the floor including a career-high seven 3-pointers, going 7 of 9 from beyond the arc. The outburst made Barragan's Simpson's career 3-point leader, giving him 174 heading into Monday night's game. He surpassed the 171 3-pointers made by Jason Parkinson from 2003-07.
Barragan's appearance on the national team is Simpson's first since Tim Dunlavy made the cut in February of 2010.
