DES MOINES, Iowa - Zack Barragan scored a team-high 18 points, Cornelius Mosby turned in a double-double and Simpson cruised to a 94-68 win over AIB College of Business in the season-opener Tuesday night.
Barragan went 5-for-9 from 3-point range for the Storm (1-0), who opened the season with a win for the first time since 2006.
Mosby scored 15 points and pulled down 14 boards, headlining a 48-27 rebounding edge for Simpson. Chad Boston added 16 points and Drew Bently scored 12 off the bench.
Bandon Eley scored a game-high 20 points and Ryley Pruismann added 18 for the Eagles (0-4).
Barragan hit his first three 3s as Simpson opened the game on a 15-4 run and never looked back.
Elijah Knox handed out seven assists for the Storm, who travel to the Winona State Tournament in Winona, Minn. this weekend. There, Simpson will take on a pair of Division II schools, opening against Winona State at 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 18. The Storm close against Upper Iowa on Saturday at 5 p.m.
