INDIANOLA - Zack Barragan hit six 3-pointers and scored a career-high 27 points, leading Simpson past Linfield 68-58 in the opening game of the 2010 Cactus Jam Phoenix Hoop Classic.
Simpson's leading scorer, Barragan made at least four 3s for the third-straight game as the Storm (4-6) won for the second time in the last three tries.
The Storm never trailed and led by as much as 20 on two occasions. As a team, Simpson made 10 3-pointers compared to five for Linfield.
Zach Anderson scored 12 points to lead the Wildcats (5-4), while Sergio Rosario chipped in with 11.
The Simpson defense forced 13 turnovers and held the Wildcats to 38 percent shooting from the field.
Point guard Elijah Knox pulled down a career-high nine rebounds and handed out four assists, but suffered an ankle injury in the process.
Simpson continues play in Phoenix today when it faces Whitman at 6 p.m.
