Jensen, Hangartner tabbed players of the week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Quarterback J Jensen III and linebacker CJ Hangartner earned top honors from the American Rivers Conference following Simpson's dominant 66-14 victory over Loras on Saturday.

Jensen was named both the league's offensive player of the week and male athlete of the week, while Hangartner took home the defensive player of the week award. The win marked Simpson's first over Loras since 2018 and the team's largest margin of victory against any opponent since 2012.

Jensen delivered an outstanding performance, completing 32 of 41 passes for a season-high 343 yards. He threw five touchdowns to four different receivers, with no interceptions. This marks the second time Jensen has been honored as the conference's Offensive Player of the Week, his first coming on October 31, 2022.

On the defensive side, Hangartner made game-changing plays, contributing not only on defense but also on special teams. He recorded five tackles, including two tackles for loss (TFL), half a sack, a quarterback hurry, a blocked punt, and a critical fourth-down interception. This is Hangartner's second weekly award of the season and third overall.

Jensen currently ranks 13th in the country with 11 passing touchdowns and 28th with 894 passing yards. Meanwhile, Hangartner is fifth in sacks (5.0), tied for fourth in forced fumbles (2) and tied for 14th in tackles for loss (7.5)

The Storm are set to challenge Central this Saturday at 1 p.m. in Pella.
