Spree receives Academic All-District accolade

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- For the 12th year in a row, the Simpson College football team has a College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District selection after senior Mason Spree landed on the first team. He's the Storm's 26th honoree during the span.

A native of Waverly, Iowa, Spree showcases a 3.88 grade-point average as a computer science and management information systems double major. He's been named to the American Rivers Conference All-Academic Team on three occasions.

Since 2018, Spree has paved the way for 3,319 rushing yards as a key cog in Simpson's offensive line unit. Cam Bunting led the A-R-C in rushing yards (1,396), rushing touchdowns (13) and scoring (90 points) coming out of the Storm's backfield from Spree's help in 2018.

Spree will now be placed on the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early July.
