Simpson football announces 2021 schedule
INDIANOLA, Iowa -- Simpson College football head coach Matt Jeter has announced the 2021 fall schedule. The upcoming slate showcases three NCAA Division III Tournament participants from 2019.
The Storm competed in just one game during their fall-to-spring campaign after three contests were originally planned.
The 2021 fall season will begin with a road trip to Texas to take on Mary Hardin-Baylor on Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. The Crusaders won the NCAA Division III National Championship in 2018 after going 12-1. UMHB went 5-0 this spring to win the American Southwest Conference Championship.
Nonconference action continues on Sept. 11 in the home opener against Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The Pointers finished 3-7 in 2019 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
American Rivers Conference competition opens on the road for Simpson in a battle at Coe on Sept. 18. The Storm host Central on Sept. 25 for their first A-R-C showdown inside Buxton Stadium of the season. The Dutch reached the second round of the NCAA Division III Playoffs in 2019.
Simpson hits the road on Oct. 2 to visit Loras, before returning home to host Luther on Oct. 9. The squad returns back to Northwest Iowa in a contest at Dubuque on Oct. 16. Buena Vista comes to campus on Oct. 23 to take on the Storm on Homecoming. The month ends with a game at Nebraska Wesleyan on Oct. 6.
After a bye week to begin November, Wartburg visits town for senior day on Nov. 13. The Knights dropped a 41-28 contest to Wisconsin-Whitewater in the second round of the NCAA Division III Playoffs in 2019.
