The Iowa Clinic physicians team with Simpson Athletics

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Simpson College Athletics and The Iowa Clinic are proud to announce a partnership that will provide physician care for Storm student-athletes in 2024-25. Leading The Iowa Clinic team serving Simpson will be Dr. Christopher Kim, esteemed orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine physician. Joining Dr. Kim will be Dr. Caleb Holder, Dr. Eric Reese and Dr. Edna Becht. The Iowa Clinic team brings a wealth of experience and expertise to ensure the highest level of care for over 700 Simpson student-athletes participating in 25 varsity sports.

Dr. Kim completed his fellowship training at Duke University, where he served as a team physician for Duke Blue Devils Athletics. He received additional career training while working with team physicians for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (CFL) and Winnipeg Jets (NHL). Prior to joining the team at The Iowa Clinic in September 2020, he served as team physician for the Saint Louis University Billikens, an NCAA Division I program in the A10 Conference.

"We are thrilled to have Dr. Kim and his team providing exceptional care for our athletic department," said Marty Bell, director of Athletics at Simpson College "Dr. Kim's extensive background in orthopedic care and sports medicine will be invaluable in supporting our athletes' health and performance. He will play a crucial role in injury prevention, management, and rehabilitation, while helping us maintain a competitive edge."

In his new role, Dr. Kim will provide comprehensive care for Simpson student-athletes, including injury assessment, surgical intervention if needed, and rehabilitation programs tailored to each athlete's specific needs. He will also collaborate with Simpson medical staff and coaches to develop strategies for injury prevention and overall athlete wellness.
"I am honored to provide vital sports medicine services for Simpson College and contribute to the success and well-being of its athletes," said Dr. Kim. "I look forward to working closely with the talented team there and helping student-athletes achieve their goals while staying healthy and strong."
