Volleyball falls in final two matches at IIAC/NAAC Crossover

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - After sweeping both matches on Friday, the Simpson volleyball team lost its final two matches at the IIAC/NAAC Crossover on Saturday. Simpson lost to Concordia (Wis.) 3-0 and Aurora 3-2.

Concordia (Wis.) 3, Simpson 0 (27-25, 25-21, 25-11)

The Storm (8-7) hit just .035 in the loss, which snapped a three-match winning streak.

Elisa Wildy led the team with six kills. Torey Buenger, MacKenzie McGraw and Tabitha Blaser all had five, though Buenger was the only player in the Simpson lineup to hit better than .300.

Katie Kieffer had 18 assists and two aces and Kira Klepel had 13 digs and two aces.

Aurora 3, Simpson 2 (25-20, 9-25, 22-25, 25-10, 15-9)

McGraw and Olivia Sulentic had nine kills apiece and Simpson fell in five sets despite out-hitting Aurora .179-.176. 

Kieffer handed out 43 assists despite no Simpson player tallying more than 10 kills. Buenger placed five service aces and helped out on four block assists.

McKenzie Peyton had a match-high 17 kills for Aurora.

The Storm continue Iowa Conference play when they head to Storm Lake to take on Buena Vista on Wednesday, Oct. 1.
