Women's tennis loses to Northwestern

INDIANOLA, Iowa - The Simpson women's tennis team split singles play but couldn't come up with a win in doubles, losing to Northwestern (Iowa) 6-3 on Saturday.

Michelle Hartmann, Cassidy Bierbrodt and Danielle Dawson all earned super-tiebreaker wins in singles for the Storm (5-13), who were hosting their first match of the spring season.

Hartmann lost her first set to Terry Odera at No. 2 before coming back for a 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 win. Bierbrodt and Dawson also suffered first-set losses before winning the final two. Bierbrodt topped McKayla Johnson 4-6, 6-5, 1-0 at No. 5 and Dawson edged out Anna Haler 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 at No. 6.

Northwestern started the day by sweeping the doubles competition, forcing Simpson to win five of six singles matches in order to win.
