Amburgy named IIAC Swimmer of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Simpson swimmer Christina Amburgy took home Iowa Conference Swimmer of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, Jan. 27, the league office announced Tuesday.

A freshman from Knoxville, Iowa, Amburgy played a part in three Storm victories in a 73-57 dual victory over Iowa Lakes on Jan. 25. She won the 100 freestyle (1:04.09) and 200 freestyle (2:23.13), took third in the 400 freestyle (5:33.13) and swam on Simpson's winning 400 freestyle relay (4:46.71).

Amburgy is the second Simpson women's swimmer to earn the weekly award this season. Megan Lein was named swimmer of the week for the period ending Nov. 18.

Simpson concludes the 2012-13 season at the Liberal Arts Championships in Cedar Rapids on Feb. 14-16.
