Swimming teams bring home academic honors

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson swimming teams earned College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America honors for their efforts in the classroom in 2012-13.

Both the men's and women's team collected the award, which is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams who achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. Simpson's men posted a 3.05 GPA during the year while the women registered a 3.25, the first time in program history either team has earned the award.

Only one other team in the Iowa Conference – the Luther women – met the criteria for recognition.

Both Storm teams recorded program-best finishes at the Liberal Arts Championships in 2013, setting a combined 15 school record over the weekend. Simpson will field a diving team for the first time in 2014 in its new home, the Indianola YMCA.
