Simpson duo competes at National Championship

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky -- For the first time since 1986, the Simpson College men's cross country team had two runners compete at the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships as both Spencer Moon and Harry Dudley navigated the course at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park with nearly 300 of the nation's best.

Junior Spencer Moon placed 118th to turn in the program's highest finish since Dave Halferty placed 13th in 1989 and senior Harry Dudley closed his career with a 264th place finish at the national level.

"What a terrific season for Spencer and Harry," said Heath Moenck, Head Cross Country Coach. "I couldn't be more grateful for their dedication to our program. It's pretty special for Harry to end his cross country career at Simpson at the national meet. Spencer put himself in a great position to be an All-American, but just didn't have it the last two kilometers. They both should be proud of their seasons."

Moon crossed the finish line in 24:57.5 and Dudley completed the course in 26:07.8. They were the first to run at the national meet for Simpson since Ian McKenzie in 2017 and became the Storm's 14th and 15th national qualifier with their career-best performances at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championship last week.
