Storm hold seventh place in regional rankings

NEW ORLEANS -- The first installment of the regular season U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Midwest Region Rankings place Simpson College men's cross country in seventh, the organization announced Tuesday.

The Storm remain in seventh after being selected in the same spot in the USTFCCCA Midwest Region Preseason Rankings that were released Aug. 24. All 10 teams remain in their respective slots from the preseason poll, including Wartburg in the top spot. Six squads represent the American Rivers Conference in the regional ranks.

Through two events this fall, Simpson has won the Bill Buxton Invitational and finished runner-up in the Grinnell Invitational. The Storm collected a perfect score of 15 in its season-opening race at Pickard Park.

Simpson is off the remainder of the month and returns to competition Oct. 1 in the Brissman-Lundeen Invitational. Action will take place at Saukee Golf Course in Rock Island, Illinois at 5:30 p.m.
