Moon named All-Region, Storm men finish 10th

WAVERLY, Iowa -- Spencer Moon became the first Simpson men's cross country freshman to garner All-Region honors since 1995 as the Storm grabbed its second top-10 performance in three seasons at the NCAA Central Region Championships on Saturday.

Simpson ended with 277 points for 10th to tie the 2017 squad with the best performance since 1996. Aside from the top-three teams at the meet in Waverly, Iowa, Simpson was the only other school to have all runners finish 80th or better.

Moon had the best day of his young collegiate career with a time of 26:18.6 to place 30th. Teammates Jonathan Facio and Shane Breheny also ran the 8K in under 27 minutes. Facio placed 48th overall with a time of 26:41.2, while Breheny was shortly behind him at 26:55.5 for 59th.

Seth Nostrala trumped his previous season-best 8K time by 13 seconds with a finish time of 27:06.8. Eric Baldus and Ryan Courtney ended within a 10th of a second of one another to finish 72nd and 73rd, respectively. Noah Nelsen had a time of 27.22 to round out the Storm runners.

Comments from Coach Moenck
