Newcomers pace Storm men at Buxton Invite

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- The Simpson men's cross country team won the Bill Buxton Invite on Friday as they scored 26 points. Freshman Spencer Moon ended second to pace the team, while senior Jonathan Facio finished third.

Moon finished the race in 19:34.2 and just edged Facio by three seconds to finish the 6k course. Cale Billheimer (19:53.9), Eric Baldus (20:01.1), Ryan Courtney (20:01.7) and Shane Breheny (20:02.6) filled the sixth through ninth spots at the meet.

Simpson graduate Trey Thompson finished first at the race with a mark of 19:15.9.

The Storm topped the eight-team field of Grand View (90), Simpson Alumni (91), Bellevue (111), Buena Vista (123)
Graceland (138), Southwestern Community College (158) and William Penn (190)
