Fitch, 4x100 land all-conference selections

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Simpson men received two all-conference performers on day three of the American Rivers Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday to finish in sixth as a team.

Kellen Fitch sprinted to third in the 200 meters for an all-conference selection with a mark of 22.35. Fitch, along with Troy Vittetoe, Craig Garrison and Travis Tupper rallied together for second-place in the 4x100-meter relay for the team's fourth all-conference selection at the meet with a time of 41.75.

Simpson had three fourth-place results to just miss landing all-conference honors. Jordan Coughenour used a time of 54.73 in the 400-meter hurdles to just miss the cut. The 4x400-meter relay of Chase Wetterling, Tupper, Garrison and Coughenour finished in 3:19.21 and Caleb Striegel had a distance of 45.21 meters in the discus to wrap-up the team's fourth-place performances.

After making the finals in the 110-meter hurdles, Sam Adeniyi crossed in 16.13 for seventh. Trey Thompson ended in the 13th in the 5000 meters.

The Storm will split up and either compete in the Augustana Qualifier in Rock Island, Ill. or the La Crosse Qualifier in La Crosse, Wis. on Thursday.
