Coughenour, Meyer highlight final day of A-R-C Championships

WAVERLY, Iowa -- Jordan Coughenour and Elliott Meyer came within one place of reaching the podium for the men's track and field team on the final day of the American Rivers Conference Championships on Saturday.

Coughenour raced to fourth place in the 400 meters with a time of 50.82, which was just one-hundredths of a second behind third. Meyer clipped 8.54 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles.

Ryan Trainer finished his two days of competing in heptathlon events with a fifth-place nod. Trainer tallied 3,682 points. The 4x400-meter relay of Travis Tupper, Emmitt Wheatley, Kirk Wicks and Coughenour ended in fifth.

The 200-meter race showcased three top-10 performers for the Storm. Craig Garrison garnered sixth, Kellen Fitch came in at seventh and Tupper received ninth. The 3,000-meters produced two top-10 outcomes with Jonathan Facio crossing in seventh and Trey Thompson following close in eighth.

In the mile, Ryan Courtney earned ninth with a time of 4:28.37.

Simpson will return back to Wartburg on Friday, March 1 for the Wartburg Qualifier.
