Kusick named IIAC Player of the Week

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Simpson men's tennis player Zach Kusick earned Iowa Conference Player of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, Feb. 21, the league office announced Tuesday.

A senior from Westminster, Colo., Kusick went a combined 6-0 on the week, going 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles as the Storm posted wins over Ripon (9-0), Bethany Lutheran (5-4) and Martin Luther (7-2) last weekend. Kusick played No. 1 in both singles and doubles for the Storm, teaming up with Peter Rietgraf on the doubles side.

Kusick improved to 5-3 on the season as the Storm improved to 5-3 as a team, the program's best start since 2004.

Simpson travels to Janesville, Wis. next Saturday, Feb. 27 to take on St. Norbert and Lakeland. The team then travels down I-90 to Rockford, Ill. on Sunday, where it will face Aurora.
