Storm men beat Martin Luther 7-2 for third straight win

OWATONNA, Minn. - The Simpson men's tennis team closed out a three-win weekend with a 7-2 win over Martin Luther on Sunday morning.

The Storm (5-3) won two of three doubles matches to start the day en route to their third straight win. Simpson went on to win the top four singles matches to close a productive weekend.

Zach Kusick, Pierce Carey, Peter Rietgraf and Geoff Converse cruised in Nos. 1-4 singles. Kusick beat Justin Steinke 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1, Carey beat Justin Marhsall 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2, Rietgraf beat Josh Koelpin 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 and Converse beat Philip Schroeder 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4.

Dedrick Kettwick added a win in the super tiebreaker at No. 6, edging Ethan Schultz 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-4). 

In doubles, Kusick and Rietgraf topped Steinke and Koelpin 8-3 at No. 1. At No. 2, Carey and Adam Wieser beat Marshall and Schroeder 8-4.

Up next: Simpson goes to Janesville, Wis. to take on St. Norbert and Lakeland on Saturday, Feb. 27.
