Luth named IIAC Player of the Week
INDIANOLA, Iowa — Simpson volleyball player Jacqueline Luth earned Iowa Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, Oct. 2, the league office announced earlier this week.
A junior outside hitter from Savage, Minn., Luth finished the week with 42 kills and a .211 hitting percentage, helping the Storm to a 1-1 mark in two IIAC matches. She averaged more than 5 kills per set as the Storm rallied for a five-set win over Dubuque on Friday before falling to Loras in three sets on Saturday. Her 3.96 kills per set are tops in the conference.
Luth enjoyed a career night in the win over Dubuque, finishing with 27 kills while hitting .323. Her 27 kills were the most by a Simpson player in 16 years and are tied for the 10th-most in school history. The accolade is the first of her career.
Luth and the Storm (8-10, 1-4) lost to Coe in four sets on Tuesday. They return to action Tuesday, Oct. 11 with a non-conference match at Grinnell.
