Women's swimming splits in double dual
BELOIT, Wis. — Brenna Yeutsy broke another school record in a double dual split against Beloit and Ripon Saturday afternoon.
Simpson defeated Beloit 150-38 and fell to Ripon 119-86.
"We were very competitive today," head coach Tom Caccia said. "Ripon is a strong, well-coached team and they had their swimmers in the right spot to do well against us."
Yeutsy won the 1000 freestyle in 11:36.78, finishing nearly 45 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. She sets another school record with this time, beating out Hannah Yarbrough's 2011-12 record of 11:39.01. Yeutsy also finished second in the 100 freestyle in 58.80.
Cheyenne Wiederholt earned first place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:06.86 and Mikala Williams-Yee finished first in the 100 breastroke in 1:14.60.
"We wanted to find some things out before getting onto our invites," Caccia said. "We learned what we needed to know and I look forward to Grinnell in a couple of weeks."
