Simpson takes 13th at Wartburg

WAVERLY, Iowa - The Simpson women's golf team improved one place from Saturday to Sunday, taking 13th of 20 teams at the Wartburg Fall Invitational last weekend.

Jennifer Gaffney led the Storm, carding an 11-over 83 on both days of the invitaitional for a 36-hole total of 166. She finished tied for 26th in the individual race, Simpson's lone top-30 performer.

Jennifer Stumpf trimmed seven shots from her first 18 to her last 18 holes, firing a 15-over 87 on Sunday after shooting 94 on Saturday. She tied for 59th with a 181.

After leading the Storm at a rain-shortened Buena Vista Invitational last weekend, Taylor Hillery shot 183 at Wartburg (93, 90) to tie for 62nd. Molly Hill carded a 92 in both rounds for a 184, good enough to tie for 64th. Stacy Bergeson rounded out Simpson's lineup with a 190, improving 10 strokes with a 90 on Sunday. She tied for 78th.

Simpson returns to action Saturday, Sept. 17 and Sunday, Sept. 18 at the Division III Midwest Classic in Lake City, Minn.
