Simpson softball recognizes senior quartet

INDIANOLA, Iowa -- The Simpson softball team was set to honor its four seniors at the end of the 2020 season; Madi Bennett, Kasiah Brown, Baillee Furst and Emily Schilke.

The Storm's season was cancelled before they appeared in a game. The senior quartet tallied 50 victories in their career, and landed in two conference tournaments and reached the American Rivers Conference Tournament Semifinals in 2019 after an opening round win over Wartburg.

Madi Bennett | Infielder, 2017-20
• Senior from Fort Dodge, Iowa
• Appeared in 104 games with 60 career hits for a .207 batting average
• Hit a season-best .297 in 2017 after tallying 27 hits
• Produced 15 doubles, two home runs and one triple in her career
• Drove in 33 runs and scored on 17 occasions
• In 373 chances in the field, Bennett only had 10 errors for an impressive .973 fielding percentage
• Majoring in neuroscience with a minor in biology
• Plans to attend podiatric medical school or take a gap year after graduation

Kasiah Brown | Infielder, 2018 & 2020
• Senior from Sully, Iowa
• Named honorable mention all-conference as a sophomore for the Storm in 2018 after transferring from Coe
• Hit .415 with 39 hits and scored 25 runs in her first year with the program
• Drove in seven batters and stole 12 bases in her career
• Did not play in 2019
• Majoring in accounting
• Plans to work as an accountant for Timmins, Jacobsen & Strawhacker LLP and study for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam after graduation

Baillee Furst | Student Manager, 2017-20
• Senior from Boone, Iowa
• Student manager all four years at Simpson
• Part of a a senior class that won 50 contests in three seasons and that appeared in two-straight conference tournaments
• President of Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK), C Street Agency Firm Director and Storm Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) President
• Majoring in public relations and English with a minor in political science
• Pursuing digital marketing or public relation positions in Des Moines and plans to obtain a master's degree in strategic communications within the next five years after graduation

Emily Schilke | Pitcher/Infielder, 2017-20
• Senior from Lincoln, Neb.
• Ended with a 4-5 record inside the circle in 22 appearances and seven starts for Simpson
• Had a career-high three victories as a junior in 36.0 innings
• Tallied a save in 2019 and tossed two complete games
• Held No. 9 Coe to one run to help the Storm win 3-1 over the Kohawks in 2019
• Majoring in biology with a minor in coaching
• Plans to begin a job as a medical scribe and pursue a two-year surgical technology degree before attending medical school after graduation
