Prettyman named second team All-IIAC, Jensen honorable mention

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa –Ashley Prettyman earned second team honors and Hailey Jensen took home an honorable mention nod, as the duo represented Simpson on the 2013 All-Iowa Conference Softball Team.

A sophomore outfielder from Des Moines, Iowa, Prettyman made an immediate impact in her first season with the Storm after transferring from Wayne State College. She hit .390 in 38 games and led the team with 15 doubles. She also hit five home runs, had 30 RBIs and posted a team-best .678 slugging percentage. Prettyman led the team with a .340 batting average in conference play, driving in a team-high 10 RBIs.

Prettyman earned Iowa Conference Position Player of the Week honors for the period ending April 28 after hitting .625 in a sweep of Wartburg. In game one of the doubleheader, she hit for the cycle as part of a 4-for-4 performance, driving in three runs and scoring three times.

A sophomore utility player from West Des Moines, Iowa, Jensen led the team in batting average (.411) and RBIs (32), starting all 39 games. She led the team with 17 multi-hit games and hit five home runs while playing four different positions throughout the season, starting games at first base, third base, shortstop and designated player.

Simpson went 29-10 during the season, going 8-6 in the Iowa Conference to finish fourth. The Storm climbed as high as No. 12 in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Poll and closed the season ranked No. 5 in the Midwest Region

Simpson narrowly missed a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
