Prettyman named IIAC Player of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Simpson softball player Ashley Prettyman earned Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Position Player of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, April 28.

Prettyman, a sophomore outfielder from Des Moines, Iowa, hit .625 and slugged 1.375 in Simpson's sweep of Wartburg on Saturday, April 27.

In game one, Prettyman hit for the cycle on the way to a 4-for-4 performance with three RBIs and three runs scored. She tripled in the first, homered in the second, doubled in the fourth and finished with a single in the sixth. She followed with a 1-for-4 effort in the nightcap.

Simpson wrapped up the No. 4 seed in the IIAC Tournament with the sweep, an 8-0, 6-inning win in game one and a 4-0 triumph in game two. Prettyman and the Storm (29-9, 8-6) open the tournament against No. 5 seed Dubuque on Thursday morning in Cedar Rapids.
