Coopman named IIAC Player of the Week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Simpson softball player Carissa Coopman earned Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Position Player of the Week honors for the period ending Feb. 26, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Coopman, a senior first baseman from Davenport, Iowa, hit .471 and slugged 1.059 with eight hits, six runs, two doubles, a triple, two home runs, and six RBIs as Simpson opened the season 3-3 at the Finlandia Dome Tournament on Feb. 25-26. She had two hits in a 16-2 win over St. Scholastica and was 2-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs, and two runs scored against Marian (Wis.).
