Storm produce 19 kills against William Penn

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson College men's volleyball team produced a season-high 19 kills against William Penn on Wednesday, with five players contributing at least three.

Treye Teske led the way with five, while Ignacio Aguado Herranz and Joseph Wollum both had four.

Along with their season-high kill total, the Storm (0-4) tallied double-digit services aces for the first time in team history. Wollum (4) and Aguado Herranz (3) combined for seven of the 10.

SET SUMMARY

  • Simpson led for a good portion of set one, but the Statesman used a 4-1 run to tie things at 18-18 before scoring seven of the last eight points for a 25-19 victory.
  • The Statesmen had a strong finish to the second set as well. Ignacio Aguado Herranz knocked down a kill to pull Simpson within one, 17-16, but William Penn went on to win 25-17.
  • The visitors maintained control of the third set, hitting .286 to post another 25-19 set win.

Simpson heads to Salina, Kan. for four games beginning with St. Ambrose and Morningside on Friday evening. The Storm will then face host Kansas Wesleyan as well as Central Christian on Saturday.
