Cord takes third in Kansas Relays decathlon
LAWRENCE, Kan. - Competing in the first decathlon of his career, John Cord scored 6,151 points to place third at the historic Kansas Relays on Thursday.
Cord's score puts him in the top 10 in the nation. He finished behind Dan Simon of UW-Milwaukee (6,429) and Atsu Nyamadi of Neosho County CC (6,234).
The senior led after day one, but had to compete in a few unfamiliar events on Thursday, inclduing the pole vault.
