Ordaz tabbed as offensive player of the week

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Ronaldo Ordaz of the Simpson College men's soccer team was tabbed as the American Rivers Conference Offensive Player of the Week.

Ordaz is taking home his second career weekly honor after being involved in all five of the Storm's goals last week. The Marshalltown, Iowa native assisted Juan Sandoval for the opening goal in Simpson's 3-0 win over Cornell College before striking twice in the final 10 minutes to seal the win. Ordaz then scored the opening goal in the road match at Knox College on Saturday, adding a penalty kick later on to bring his weekly tally to four goals and an assist.

"Ronaldo had another great week and has established himself as one of the top attacking players in our league," said head coach Rick Isaacson. "It is no coincidence that he is thriving in his senior season after working so hard in the offseason and a player of his caliber gives us a chance to win on any day."

Ordaz has recorded at least one goal or assist in all six of Simpson's games this season. Coming off an all-conference season last campaign, Ordaz currently leads the conference in points with 17, is tied for first in goals with seven, and is tied for second in assists with three.

"There is always potential for great things when your best players are also your hardest workers and that description perfectly fits Ronaldo," continued Issacson.

The Storm have a road match against unbeaten Carleton on Wednesday before opening up conference play at home against rival Central on Saturday.
