Football can't keep up with Dubuque offense

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Simpson didn't have an answer for the Dubuque offense and couldn't get its own clicking in a 44-10 loss on Saturday afternoon.

Zach Fry threw for 283 yards and four touchdowns and Alec Arvanitakis ran for 97 for the Spartans (2-3, 1-1 Iowa Conference), who amassed 487 yards of total offense against a Simpson defense that came in allowing just over 350 yards per game.

Chris Bagley caught seven passes for 111 yards and a touchdown and Tyler Rutenbeck caught eight for 97 yards and two scores.

Dylan Berkey went 13-for-31 for 140 yards through the air and ran for 59 yards for the Storm (3-2, 0-2), who couldn't find a rhythm offensively.

Simpson turned it over on downs inside the Dubuque 40 four times and punted twice in their 10 possessions.

Jordan Beem ran for 40 yards and a 3-yard touchdown that pulled Simpson within a touchdown, 14-7 with 13:22 left in the second quarter.

Dubuque answered with a 3-yard, Milton Greer touchdown run to go up 21-7. Simpson drove inside the Dubuque 35 on the next possession, but Everett Schwer forced a fumble that Dylan Ramsey picked up and ran back 70 yards for a touchdown to extended the lead to 28-7.
