
Nelson named IIAC Offensive Player of the Week
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Simpson football player Taylor Nelson earned Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors for the period ending Sunday, Nov. 11, the league office announced.
Nelson, a junior quarterback from West Des Moines, Iowa, accounted for 278 yards of total offense in Simpson's 21-10 win over Luther in the season finale on Nov. 10, becoming Simpson's career leader with 7,577 yards. He completed 16 of 35 passes for 167 yards and a touchdown, extending his streak of consecutive games with a touchdown pass to 18. Nelson also ran 17 times for 111 yards, running for a 48-yard touchdown on a fourth-and-1 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
Nelson takes home the award for the third time this season and fourth time in his career.
Simpson closed the season 6-4, going 4-3 in conference play to tie for second.
