Simpson Athletics announces Hall of Fame class, new team category
INDIANOLA, Iowa – Simpson College Athletics will celebrate a Hall of Fame class unlike any before this fall as teams are inducted for the first time alongside two standout individuals and two special award recipients.
The new Hall of Fame team category will debut with the 1997 and 1999 NCAA Division III national championship softball teams. Guided by legendary coach Henry Christowski, these powerhouse squads combined for 86 wins while sweeping national, regional, and conference titles during a golden era for Storm softball.
Individual honorees include Brad Vogel '15 and Mike Wilson '00. Vogel was a record-setting two-sport athlete in football and men's track and field, while Wilson was a four-time all-conference selection for Simpson's men's soccer.
Former track and field All-American Ross Parker will receive the Double "S" Award in recognition of his career achievements since graduating in 2005, while Rick Wilson will be honored with the Dick Buxton Award for his decades of dedication and support for Storm Athletics.
All honorees will be celebrated at the Red & Gold Celebration dinner, held in Hubbell Hall at the Kent Campus Center on Friday, Oct. 24, at 6 p.m. The celebration continues the following day when the 2025 inductees and award winners are introduced at halftime of Simpson's football game against Dubuque on Saturday, Oct. 25.
