Storm dance team earns State Pom Championship

RESULTS

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Simpson dance team brought home a state championship in the pom category and two second place finishes at the 2018 Iowa State Dance Competition held at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines on Friday, Dec. 1.

The Storm women competed against other Division III dance teams in three categories including pom, jazz and hip hop as they broke the record for highest placings in the history of the team.

In a routine choreographed by Norwalk Superstars' director Jay Peterson, the Storm women edged Central for the gold with a final score of 264 points in the pom category. The routine earned Simpson its second state championship title under head coach Paige Ahrens.

Simpson also danced to "Where Have You Been" by Rihanna for it's jazz routine and a Britney Spears mix for hip hop, each choreographed by Ahrens. Both routines finished runner-up behind reigning champion Central.

Simpson athletes visit Lasik Iowa and Lasik Omaha doctors for annual checkups.
