Kallem leads Storm to fast times in Nebraska

ASHLAND, Neb. - Lara Kallem led the Simpson women's cross country team in a meet full of Division I teams at the Platte River Rumble, Friday, at Mahoney State Park.

Kallem and the next four members of Simpson's team to cross the finish line all set career-bests in the 6K. Additionally, other members of the Storm team also set career bests. Kallem's time of 22:57.1 to place 34th overall is the fastest 6K by a Storm runner since Rebecca Diemer's 22:54 in 2015, and the first to go under 23 minutes in that same time span. It was Kallem's second time this season leading the Storm at an event after her second place overall finish at the Bill Buxton Invitational.

Emma Angus and Teghan Booth took 44th and 45th place, respectively, coming across the line with only a second between them. Angus finished in 23:09.7 for her career-best, while Booth crossed in 23:10.7 for the same honor.

Ashley Rockhold recorded a career-best time of 23:26.1 to finish in 57th, while Emily Erhardt rounded out the scoring for the Storm in 23:30.7, placing 61st.

The Storm finished seventh overall in the meet, defeating fellow American Rivers Conference foe Buena Vista and were the top Division III team.

"It was a terrific day for our ladies running in a highly competitive field," said head coach Heath Moenck. "We're coming around at the right time which is really exciting as we transition to the championship part of our season."
