Kallem leads Simpson pack in Dan Huston Triangular

WAVERLY, Iowa -- Freshman Lara Kallem led the Simpson women's cross country team at the Dan Huston Triangular on Saturday with a new personal best during a 6K. Wartburg finished first with a perfect score and Central ended second as the Storm collected third.

"Our women ran our best team race of the season," head coach Heath Moenck said. "Lara Kallem and Cat Lucht are forming a great one-two punch and Kaya Young and Macie Bopp both performed awesome today, so it was fun to watch them race so well. Our women are doing a terrific job and I cannot wait for these last two meets."

Kallem crossed the finish in 23:57.5 to tally 12th overall after erasing 86 seconds off the previous-best result of her young career for Simpson. Senior Cat Lucht ended right behind her teammate in 13th and freshman Kaya Young closed in with a 17th-place nod.

Freshman Macie Bopp earned a career-best time of 25:02.3 for 20th overall and junior Sophie Hall added a career best as well for 27th. Junior Katie Murano was the seventh Storm runner to cross the finish.
