Women's golf takes 15th at Wartburg

WAVERLY, Iowa - Freshman Courtney Mabeus carded a team-low 171 at the 36-hole, Wartburg Invitational from Centennial Oaks Golf Club to help the Storm place 15th of 17 teams over the weekend.

The Storm shot 732 as a team at the par-72, 5,866-yard course. Carleton won the team race with a 604.

Simpson showed improvement throughout the weekend as 5 of 6 golfers posted lower scores on Sunday than Saturday. Allison McArtor improved by 23 shots while Kelsey Van Veen shaved 10 strokes.

Simpson's leader, Mabeus, trimmed five shots on the weekend (88-83) and finished tied for 42nd in the 93-player tournament.

Coltyn Hunter tied for 55th (91-87-178), Lesley Pearey tied for 73rd (91-99-190) and Holly Baiotto tied for 76th (97-96-193). Van Veen came in 85th (109-99-208) and McArtor finished tied for 90th (122-99-221).

Erin Dingmann of St. Thomas earned medalist honors with a 146 (72-74), edging out Carleton's Geraldine Tellbuscher by two strokes.
