Women's golf holds steady, remains sixth after third round at IIAC

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Coltyn Hunter carded a team-best 99 in the third round and the Simpson women's golf team held steady in sixth place after a cold, windy third round of the Iowa Conference Championship at Dubuque Golf & Country Club on Friday.

Simpson shot 413 as a team on a day when scores were high across the board, giving the Storm 1135 for the tournament. Simpson leads Dubuque by just two strokes (1137) and trails Coe by 15 (1120).

Hunter (94-89-99-282) moved into a tie for 25th, good for second on the team. Lesley Pearey (87-87-101-275) remains atop the team leaderboard after shooting 101.

Holly Baiotto (90-94-103-287) is tied for 27th, Allison McArtor (93-88-110-291) is in 29th and Courtney Mabeus (106-98-117-321) is tied for 32nd, rounding out the Simpson lineup.

The final round of the 2014 Iowa Conference Women's Golf Championship is slated to begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, when Dubuque and Buena Vista start the first wave of the final round. Simpson, Coe and Loras will go off in the second wave while Luther, Central, and Wartburg will make up the third and final wave.

The 2014 IIAC Champion will also receive the conference's automatic berth into the 2015 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship to be held in May at the Mission Inn Golf Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla.
