Women's golf remains in sixth after two rounds at IIAC Championship

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The Simpson women's golf team shaved six strokes off its first round score and remains in sixth place after the first two rounds of the Iowa Conference Championship at Pheasant Ridge Golf Course.

Simpson shot 358 on Saturday, giving the team 722 through the first 36 holes of the 72-hole championship. The Storm trail Coe by just six strokes.

Lesley Pearey led Simpson for the second day in a row, carding her second-straight 87. She is currently tied for 21st overall at 174.

Allison McArtor and Coltyn Hunter saw big improvements on day two, as each improved their first round efforts by five strokes. McArtor (93-88-181) is in 28th place and Hunter (94-89-183) is in 30th.

Holly Baiotto (31st, 90-94-184) and Courtney Mabeus (35th, 106-98-204) rounded out Simpson's finishers. 

Focus now shifts to Dubuque where the final 36 holes of the championship will be constested October 3-4 at Dubuque Golf and Country Club. The University of Dubuque is the host institution for this year's championship. Teams are slated to tee off at 10 a.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday. Dubuque and Buena Vista will tee off in the first wave Friday, followed by Loras, Coe and Simpson in the second wave. Wartburg, Central and Luther will make up the third and final wave.
