Paxson paces Storm to third-place finish

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - Breydon Paxson finished in the top three in a pair of events, leading the Simpson College shooting sports team to a third-place finish at the Wartburg Shootout.

The team started off with a pair of third-place finishes in the skeet competition. Victoria Barksdale took third in the women's skeet with a score of 94, while Carson Cummings shot a 98 to take third in the men's competition.

In the trap competition, Paxson was just one point away from a perfect score, shooting a 99, to also tie for third. Paxson followed that up with a second-place finish in the sporting competition, shooting a 92 to finish one point behind first place. Paxson's overall score of 284 across the three disciplines earned him third place overall across all competitors on the day.

The Storm took third out of seven squads, with Paxson's 284 leading the team. Cummings finished with a 268, while Riley Ericson scored a 265. Wyatt Heisterkamp compiled a score of 261 and Kylie Tierney rounded out the scoring for the Storm, finishing as the leading Storm female with a score of 249.
